Everything You Want (and need) to Know
What IS Microblading?
I get asked this all the time: what is microblading? It is a form of permanent makeup, except instead of using a machine (think tattoo gun), it uses a manual, handheld tool, with a stacked row of micro needles (contrary to the name, it is NOT a blade). These needles scratch the skin throughout the hair of the desired shape of the brow, mimicking eyebrow hairs. A numbing agent is used for client comfort and to control bleeding. Once numb, the scratches are opened slightly wider and deeper with the microblading tool, and pigment is added during this process. Microblading is done in the second layer of skin, called the Epidermis. It is slightly more shallow than a tattoo done with a machine. On average, my clients require touchups every 1.5-2.5 years to keep brows looking fresh and defined. The frequency of touch ups depends on many factors, such as age, skin type, genetics, the way you care for your skin, and overall health..
Is Microblading Right For Me?
Microblading is a great option for those with thinning brows that want more subtle and natural looking, complete brows. It is great to help fix uneven brows or to create entirely new brows for those with complete loss of eyebrow hair which may be due to medications, illness, alopecia, trichotillomania, over-tweezing, or aging.
The best skin types for microblading are normal to dry skins; oily skins tend to have larger pores and due to the oil secretions and pore size, microblading doesn't always heal as crisp hairstrokes, it appears more powdered once healed.
There are many options for your brows and I am always willing to meet for a free consultation to discuss what is best for you.
There are some other factors which may prevent you from being able to receive microblading. Please continue reading to the next section.
What Should I Know Before My Appointment?
All of my clients are Pre-Screened to ensure they are a proper candidate for microblading or any type of permanent makeup. If you are considering having this done, or have already booked your appointment, please review the Pre-Screening and Pre-Appointment Instructions. All clients are required to fill out an Intake and Waiver upon their arrival, prior to their appointment, and will be provided with verbal and written aftercare instructions and post-care cream.
